CLEARWATER, Fla. - The No. 12 Texas Longhorns used two late runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and a run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 4-3 win over the No. 21 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday morning at the Elite Invitational presented by Wilson.
Kentucky's first baseman Mallory Peyton clubbed her team-leading fourth home run of the season to left field in the top half of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3, but the Longhorns responded with a run in the bottom half to win the game on a walk-off.
The loss drops UK to 4-5 on the season, with four of UK's five losses coming by one run or via a walk-off. Texas improves to 7-1 on the year with Saturday morning's result.
Grace Baalman was a star in the circle for UK, throwing a complete game on 134 pitches, allowing just three unearned runs. The sophomore recorded five strikeouts and allowed nine hits.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Wildcats appeared to have the second out of the inning on a routine grounder - but after an umpire conference, the play was overturned - and put a Longhorn batter on first base. That run came around and ended up tying the game late in the sixth. Baalman got out of the jam with a strikeout.
Mallory Peyton was the key player in the game, hitting a game-tying home run in the top of the seventh inning to deep left field. It was her fourth of the season.

Game 2CLEARWATER, Fla. - The No. 21 Kentucky softball team beat its first top-25 team of the 2019 season on Saturday afternoon, beating the No. 22 Oregon Ducks, 12-3 in five innings on day three of the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational presented by Wilson.
Mallory Peyton clubbed her fourth home run of the weekend to walk the game off in the bottom of the fifth inning, as she clubbed in her second and third RBI of the game. Peyton on the weekend has hammered four home runs, has 10 RBI and six extra-base hits.
Katie Reed, Mallory Peyton and Abbey Cheek all hit home runs in the game, helping pace the UK offense to its second 13-run game in as many days against a power-five team.
Kentucky scored first for the ninth time in 10 games this season and didn't look back. The Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run double off the bat of Jenny Schaper to put UK up a pair.

3. The Wildcats had three home runs from three different players, Katie Reed, Mallory Peyton and Abbey Cheek all hit home runs. Additionally, pinch hitters Kelsee Henson, Maclai Branson and Autumn Humes all had back-to-back-to-back hits in the bottom of the third.
Kelsee Henson's pinch-hit two-run double was the key play in the game, putting UK up, 5-0.
Meghan Schorman was the key player for UK, throwing 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and had five strikeouts. It is her second win of the season in the circle.
