Player of the Week: Austin Martin, Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt's Austin Martin scored nine runs and reached base in 12 of his 16 appearances on the weekend, including 10 of his first 11. Martin finished a home run shy of the cycle during Vanderbilt's 15-9 win against Virginia, and he scored four runs during each of the Commodores' wins vs. Virginia and No. 25 Cal State Fullerton. Martin batted .600 and posted a .750 on-base percentage in Vanderbilt's three games of the inaugural MLB4 Collegiate Baseball Tournament.
Pitcher of the Week: John Doxakis, Texas A&M
Texas A&M's John Doxakis led all SEC pitchers in strikeouts the opening weekend with a career-high tying 12 on Friday night in the Aggies' win over Fordham. He allowed just one hit, an infield single in the second inning, and no runner reached scoring position during his 7.0 innings of work. Doxakis held Fordham to an .042 on-base percentage (and slugging percentage), and he retired the last 12 batter he faced.
Freshman of the Week: Jaden Hill, LSU
LSU right-hander Jaden Hill allowed just one run on four hits in five innings with one walk and eight strikeouts in his debut against Air Force on Sunday. Hill struck out the first three batters he faced in the top of the first inning and limited Air Force to just a double and three singles over the course of the five-inning outing, which was composed of 71 pitches (44 for strikes).
