No. 22 Texas A&M loses a close battle

DALLAS, Texas - The No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies suffered a narrow defeat, 5-4, at the hands of the Dallas Baptist Patriots Tuesday evening at Horner Ballpark. Aggie starter Chandler Jozwiak (2-1) worked 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five. Chris Weber fanned three of the four batters he faced in a scoreless 1.1 innings. Kasey Kalich struck out two of his three foe in the ninth. Texas A&M pitchers recorded 15 strikeouts, but they were victimized by three Patriots' home runs. Bryce Blaum, Logan Foster and Ty Condel notched two hits apiece for Texas A&M. The Aggies were doomed by 2-for-13 batting with runners in scoring position and eight runners left on base.


The Aggies open SEC play Friday, hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores in a 6:32 p.m. contest.


B2 | Jimmy Glowenke drew a seven-pitch walk to start the frame. He was replaced at first by Bryce Ball who grounded into a fielder's choice to the first baseman. Blayne Jones put two on with a seven-pitch walk of his own. After Christian Boulware struck out looking, Luke Bandy slapped a 1-0 offering through the left side of the infield to plate Ball. DBU 1, A&M 0.

B4 | Ball belted a leadoff single to leftfield and with one out Boulware clubbed a two-run home run over the fence in left-center. DBU 3, A&M 0.

T6 | With two outs, Foster singled up the middle and came around to score when Will Frizzell gapped a double to left-center. DBU 3, A&M 1.

B6 | Ball and Jones started the frame with back-to-back home runs over the leftfield wall. DBU 5, A&M 1. T7 | Cam Blake drew a six-pitch walk and Ty Condel laced a single through the left side of the infield to start the inning. Bryce Blaum punched a single to leftfield to knock in Blake and Condel came around to score when the DBU third baseman misplayed a grounder by Ty Coleman. Braden Shewmake bounced a single through the right side to knock in Blaum, cutting the lead to one. DBU 5, A&M 4.
