Ten SEC teams heading to NCAA Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-----A nation-leading 10 Southeastern Conference teams were selected to compete for the 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, it was announced Monday by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Four teams from the SEC - Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi State - were selected among the top six national seeds. For the second consecutive year, the SEC tied its record with 10 teams in the NCAA Tournament.

The top eight national seeds in order are UCLA, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Louisville and Texas Tech. Seeds 9-16 in order are Oklahoma State, East Carolina, Stanford, Ole Miss, LSU, North Carolina, West Virginia and Oregon State.

SEC schools earning bids include Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Ten SEC teams also earned bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and 2014.

Each regional field features four teams, playing in a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be played Friday, May 31 to Monday, June 3 (if necessary).

The 73rd Men's College World Series begins play Saturday, June 15, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Neb.
