Ten SEC track and field athletes earn academic honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 28, 2019)-----Ten Southeastern Conference track and field student-athletes were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Arkansas graduate student Lexi Jacobus was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Team Member of the Year. She was among four SEC first team honorees along with teammates Tori Hoggard and Taylor Werner and South Carolina's Allie Mueller.

Alabama's Daija Lampkin and Mississippi State's Kristy Terp were named to the women's second team.

Four SEC male athletes garnered Academic All-America status, including Texas A&M's Nathan Hite and Mississippi State's James Mackay on the first team. Alabama's Connor Ferrentino was voted second team, while South Carolina's Arinze Chance was named to the third team.
