LEXINGTON, Ky. - The No. 9 Kentucky Softball team got exceptional pitching from Autumn Humes, Tatum Spangler and Miranda Stoddard in two 3-1 wins over the Dayton Flyers on Saturday afternoon at John Cropp Stadium on a sun-splashed day.
Kentucky is now 23-2 on the season with Saturday's pair of wins, as the Wildcats have continued the best start to a season in program history. UK will travel to Western Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon to face the Hilltoppers at 7 p.m. ET in Bowling Green.
In game one, Mallory Peyton had her second home run of the weekend and seventh of the season to increase UK's lead to 3-1 going into the seventh inning when Miranda Stoddard entered the game to close out the win.
In game two, UK got three-straight RBI singles from Peyton, Erin Coffel and Renee Abernathy to power the Wildcats to a 3-1 lead that Humed finished off with ease the rest of the game. Humes struck out nine batters in her game two start and is now 10-1 on the year.

0. The Wildcats allowed no earned runs in the game. Miranda Stoddard and Tatum Spangler combined to post only four hits allowed and the one Flyer run was unearned in the inning.
Tatum Spangler was the key player in the game, going 5.1 innings and picking up her third win of the season. Spangler allowed just three hits, walked none and struck out two.
Mallory Peyton clubbing her second home run of the week and seventh of the year to left field was the key play in the game to make it a 3-1 lead for UK going into the bottomed the seventh.
Erin Coffel scored Kayla Kowalik on a base it up the middle in the top of the first. UK 1, UD 0
In the bottom of the second inning, Tatum Spangler doubled over the centerfielder's head and scored pinch runner Erica Thulen to double UK's lead. UK 2, UD 0

Nine. Kentucky's Autumn Humes had nine strikeouts in the game, tying a season high.
Renee Abernathy was the key player in the second game, going 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI single.
The key play was Humes striking out the side in the seventh inning to close out the game and tie her season high with nine K's on the afternoon.
Dayton scored first on an RBI double down the left-field line and give UD the lead. UD 1, UK 0
Three-successive RBI singles by Peyton and Coffel scored all three runs in the bottom of the third inning as the Wildcats scored all they needed in the bottom of the third. FINAL - Kentucky 3, Dayton 1
