Crimson Tide have a big day offensively in win over UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Third-ranked Alabama softball took the opening game of the weekend series against No. 7 Kentucky Saturday afternoon, 11-6.

The Alabama (26-2, 6-1 SEC) offense came alive against Kentucky (23-4, 1-4 SEC), scoring 11 runs on 13 hits, including home runs from Bailey Hemphill and Kaylee Tow. Seven Crimson Tide players earned a hit in the win, including two-hit days from Hemphill, Alexis Mack and Lexi Kilfoyl and a career-best four hits from Elissa Brown batting at the bottom of the order.

The 13 runs scored is the most for Alabama in a conference game since March 3, 2019 at Texas A&M.

Hemphill's home run pushes her career total to 56, two shy of second-place Kaila Hunt and Charlotte Morgan in the UA career record books. Her three RBIs improve her to 208 for her career, closing the gap with Hunt in second at 215.

Montana Fouts (10-2) earned the win in the circle, striking out nine over 6.0 innings while Kilfoyl secured the final three outs in the seventh. Wildcat starter Tatum Spangler (3-1) took the loss.
