HOOVER, Ala. (April 14, 2021)-----Top-ranked South Carolina and fourth-ranked LSU carded a 16-under 272 and are tied for first after the opening round of the SEC Women's Golf Championship Wednesday at Greystone's Legacy Golf Course.
Mississippi State stands third, three shots behind the leaders at 13-under 275.
South Carolina's Ana Pelaez is the individual leader after one round of play with an 8-under 64. Arkansas' Brooke Matthews and LSU's Alden Wallace are tied for second at 6-under 66.
This marks the eighth year for the Southeastern Conference Championship to be held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club just outside of Birmingham, Ala. The 2021 event will mark the third straight in which the championship will be held over five days with match play on Saturday and Sunday. The opening three rounds will consist of stroke play. The championship match on Sunday will be televised live on SEC Network.
