Kentucky junior Rhyne Howard along with South Carolina junior Destanni Henderson and sophomore Aliyah Boston are among the 12 players who earned spots on the 2021 USA Women's AmeriCup Team. Led by South Carolina and U.S. National Team head coach Dawn Staley, the group will compete in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 11-19.

All three have had success playing for USA Basketball. Howard led the team in scoring on its way to winning the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup championship, being tabbed to the all-tournament team. She also claimed gold at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. This will be Boston's fifth assignment with USA Basketball. She has helped the U.S. win gold at the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2018 Youth Olympic Games (3x3), 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2017 FIBA U16 AmeriCup. Boston was named MVP of the U16 AmeriCup and was part of the All-Start Five at the U17 World Cup. Henderson helped the U.S. to bronze in the 2016 FIBA U17 World Cup.

Ten nations from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean will take part in the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup. Games will begin on June 11, but the USA will open play on June 12 against Dominican Republic at 6:10 p.m. EDT (all games will be available on ESPN+). The USA will play Puerto Rico at 9:10 p.m. EDT on June 13, Venezuela at 6:10 p.m. EDT on June 14 and will wrap up the preliminary round against Argentina at 9:10 p.m. EDT on June 15.

The USA must finish in the top four to earn a spot in the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 Qualifying Tournaments.
