American League players from SEC universities include pitchers Kyle Gibson (Missouri-Texas Rangers) and Lance Lynn (Ole Miss-Chicago White Sox), second baseman Whit Merrifield (South Carolina-Kansas City Royals,) first baseman Jared Walsh (Georgia-Los Angeles Angels) and catcher Mike Zunino (Florida-Tampa Bay Rays).
Former SEC players on the National League roster include pitcher Walker Buehler (Vanderbilt-Los Angeles Dodgers), second baseman Adam Frazier (Mississippi State-Pittsburgh Pirates), pitcher Kevin Gausman (LSU-San Francisco Giants), Bryan Reynolds (Vanderbilt-Pittsburgh Pirates), pitcher Max Scherzer (Missouri-Washington Nationals) and Brandon Woodruff (Mississippi State-Milwaukee Brewers).
Former Florida standout Pete Alonso of the New York Mets is slated to participate in the Home Run Derby on Monday.
The 2021 MLB All-Star Game will be played Tuesday in Denver, Colo.
