BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Sept. 15, 2021)-----Five Southeastern Conference men's and women's cross country programs are ranked in the top-25 of the new national polls released Tuesday.
Three SEC women's teams are ranked in the top-25, including a pair in the top-10. Arkansas and Alabama are Nos. 6 and 7, respectively, while Ole Miss is No. 14. In the men's rankings, Arkansas came in at No. 7, while Ole Miss is 16th.
One SEC team was in action last weekend during the second week of the season. The Florida men's and women's teams placed first in the annual Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday. The men's team collected 25 points in their 6k race after placing five Gators in the top-10. The women's team also collected a first-place finish in the 4k with 25 points on the day as an impressive six runners landed in the top-10.
More than 10 SEC teams will return to action this weekend in six different races. LSU and Vanderbilt are slated to host competitions, while Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee are scheduled to compete in the North Alabama Showcase.
The 2021 SEC Championships will take place Oct. 29 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
