Week 1: Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week

Player of the Week: Over Florida's last three matches, graduate Mattias Siimar is the only Gator to go undefeated in both singles and doubles (6-0) without ever dropping a set in singles play. In singles, Siimar played at court 5, picking up two ranked victories over players from TCU (#33 Lui Maxted) and Texas (#73 Cleeve Harper). At No. 3 doubles, the #51 pairing of Siimar and Andy Andrade have won all three doubles matches, including a gutsy win against Texas where the duo was down 2-5 in the tiebreak and ended up winning 7-5 to clinch the doubles point. In winning the doubles point, Florida was able to defeat the No. 3 Longhorns, 4-3, in Austin. He leads the team with 14 overall doubles wins and is third on the team with 12 singles victories.

Freshman of the Week: Alabama's Filip Planinsek started the 2022 season 3-0 in both doubles and singles. He defeated No. 44 ranked Finn Reynolds, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot in the team's non-conference contest against No. 18 Ole Miss. He recorded one of two singles wins for the Tide against the Rebels. He also clinched the match point versus Samford, winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 against Jim Hendrix. He competed at the top of the order for UA in both doubles and singles.
