Five SEC women's tennis teams advance to Super Regional
Following this weekend's first and second rounds, five Southeastern Conference women's tennis teams have advanced in the 2022 NCAA championship. The championship continues next weekend with super regionals .
On Friday, May 13 three SEC teams will be in action. No. 13 Auburn will travel to Austin to play Texas at 12 p.m. CT. The Tigers defeated Jackson State, 5-0 and Georgia Tech, 4-3 in first and second round action. Fourteenth seed Georgia will meet Duke in Durham at 5 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs defeated Charleston Southern, 4-0 in the first round and Wake Forest, 4-0 in second round action. The Florida Gators, seeded 16th, will play at 4 p.m. ET in Chapel Hill as the play No. 1 seed North Carolina.
The next day sees an SEC vs SEC match when unseeded Vanderbilt travels to College Station to take on No. 6 seed Texas A&M. In the first round, the Commodores defeated Xavier, 4-0 before taking down No. 10 seed Ohio State in Columbus by a final of 4-2. The Aggies dominated their foes with a first round win of 4-0 against A&M-Corpus Christi and Baylor, 4-1 in the second round.
Overall, SEC women's teams went 7-2 in the first round and 5-2 in the second.
