 Jackson Martingayle, LSU

LSU senior Jackson Martingayle led his team to a first-place team finish Friday at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge. Martingayle, a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, placed first in the individual standings on Friday with a career-best time of 18:09.00 in the men's 6,000-meter race. Martingayle has been LSU's top finisher in both of the Tigers' meets this fall, as he placed fifth in the 5,000 meters at the UNO Opener on September 2.

Women's Co-Runner of the Week:

 Perri Bockrath, Kentucky

Kentucky's Perri Bockrath finished with a time of 23:33.60 at the Cowboy Jamboree, which is among the top 6k times in the SEC this season. Finishing eighth against some of the nation's best in an event featuring 223 runners, including 12 ranked squads out of 21 teams total, Bockrath covered course in 20:33.6. Running on a very challenging course that will host the NCAA Championships in November, it was a strong follow-up for the graduate student from Centerville, Ohio, who won the North Alabama Showcase a week ago. Bockrath led the No. 29-ranked UK women to an 11th-place team finish.

Women's Co-Runner of the Week:

 Lorena Rangel, LSU

Rangel, a member of the 2021 NCAA South Central All-Region Team and the 2021 Louisiana Freshman Runner of the Year, placed first in the individual standings on Friday with a career-best time of 17:17.70 in the women's 5,000-meter race. Rangel has been LSU's top finisher in both of the Tigers' meets this fall, as she placed second in the 4,000 meters at the UNO Opener on September 2.

Men's Freshman of the Week:

 Miles Brush, Kentucky

Kentucky's Miles Brush had the top freshman SEC time this weekend, 25:17.10 in the 8k at the Cowboy Jamboree. He was UK's No. 5 finisher, helping the Kentucky men finish in 18th place as a team among a field of 26 teams, 16 of whom are ranked. Brush's 8k season best: 24:40.65 last week at the North Alabama Showcase is fastest in the SEC by a freshman this season and 14th best in the conference overall.

Women's Freshman of the Week:

 Mia Cochran, Arkansas

Arkansas' Mia Cochran was the fourth finisher among freshmen in an elite field of teams at the Cowboy Jamboree, placing 24th overall on the 6,000m course in a time of 20:54.5. The time by Cochran ranks second among freshmen in the SEC, just half a second behind Sophie Baumann of Ole Miss from an earlier race on her home course, and is 10th best overall among 6,000m times this season. Baumann finished 114th in the Jamboree race with a time of 22:10.7. Cochran finished behind a pair of freshmen from Oklahoma State and one from Stanford among a field of 223 runners.
