Mississippi State takes Game 2 against Arizona State

STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs (4-3) bounced back Saturday night with a strong pitching performance en route to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils (5-1).

The Dude Effect was in full force, as 14,320 fans filled Dudy Noble Field, the seventh-largest crowd in Bulldog history. This marked the 89th time in history that attendance has been upward of 10,000, with five crowds surpassing that mark this season.

Graham Yntema drew the start against the Sun Devils, picking up his first victory of the year. Yntema threw five complete innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run. He picked up six strikeouts on the day, setting his career high.

Evan Siary was the next arm out of the pen, working 3.1 scoreless innings. Nate Dohm finished the game off for the Diamond Dawgs, earning his first save of the season.

Colton Ledbetter and Amani Larry led the way on the offensive side. Ledbetter was 2-for-3 at the plate, also reaching on a walk. He swiped three bags on the basepaths, setting a personal career high. Larry finished 2-for-4 on the day, marking his fourth multi-hit game of the season.

Mississippi State is back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they face Arizona State in the series-deciding game three. The game will be broadcast on SECN+.
