No. 1 LSU puts it on Crews control vs. Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. - LSU right-hander Ty Floyd tossed 8.1 innings of marvelous baseball and centerfielder Dylan Crews accounted for six RBI in the top-ranked Tigers' 8-4 victory over Ole Miss at Swayze Field Saturday afternoon.
Crews blasted two home runs as he went 3-for-5 to raise his season's batting average to .488. He also has now batted in 43 runs in LSU's 38 games this season.
Crews' first home run in the top of the first inning gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish. His second homer came just an inning later and was a grand slam that put LSU up 6-0.
Designated hitter Cade Beloso added two hits for the Tigers, raising his season's batting average to .371. He also drove in a run.
Floyd earned the win while giving up just five hits and three runs over his 8.1 innings pitched. He walked just one and tied his season high with eight strikeouts.
LSU's record improves to 31-7 on the season and 11-5 in the SEC, while the Rebels fall 21-18 on the year and 3-14 in SEC action.
