Baseball's Players of the Week announced
Player of the Week: Nick Senzel, Tennessee
**Tennessee's Nick Senzel hit at a .571 clip (8-for-14) over four games this week, including a 6-for-11 (.545) effort over a three-game weekend visiting Georgia. He hit five doubles in four games, furthering his SEC-leading double count to 25 on the year to help the Vols clinch a spot in the SEC Tournament.
**Senzel drove in five runs, including three vs. UGA, and now owns 59 RBI over 56 games (tops on the Vols' squad and second-most in the SEC). He Drew five walks this week, improving his season total to 40 (third-most in SEC) and improved his season average to a team-leading .354 over 56 games, ranking seventh in the league.
**Senzel hit 2-for-3 with two RBI and one walk as part of an 11-2 Tennessee win over ETSU on Tuesday, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Thursday's series opener at Georgia and went 3-for-4 with three RBI in UT's series finale win over Georgia, including a two-run double in the ninth inning to lift the Vols to a 5-2 series-clinching win.
Pitcher of the Week: Dakota Hudson, Mississippi State
**Mississippi State's Dakota Hudson threw his fourth-career complete game and his second-career complete game shutout in a 7-0 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Thursday. He has now thrown back-to-back complete game shutouts after throwing one last weekend at Auburn as well.
**Hudson picked up his ninth win of the season, the most by a Bulldog in a single season since Ross Mitchell won 13 in 2013 and has now earned a win in his last five starts and has only given up four earned runs in his last four appearances.
**The Bulldogs are now 8-2 in the opening game of an SEC weekend series behind the starting pitching of Hudson, with the junior 6-2 in those starts. He has 101 strikeouts this year, the most in a season by a Bulldog since Chris Stratton threw 127 in 2012... Is the sixth SEC pitcher to reach the century mark in strikeouts this season and stands tied for fourth in the league... Has allowed just one earned run in the last 26.1 innings of work... Now has a 2.29 ERA on the season, which stands fourth in the SEC. His series-opening win set the tone for the weekend, helping guide the Bulldogs to their third-straight sweep of an SEC opponent, a feat not accomplished since 1989.
Freshman of the Week: Antoine Duplantis, LSU
**LSU's Antoine Duplantis batted .500 (8-for-16) in the Tigers' four games last week with one triple, two RBI, three runs and a .579 on-base percentage.
**Duplantis batted .455 (5-for-11) in the Tigers' series victory over top-ranked Florida with one RBI, one run, three walks and a .571 on-base percentage.
**Duplantis is hitting a team-high .335 (76-for-227) this season with six doubles, five triples, two homers, 35 RBI, 41 runs and 12 stolen bases.
