Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 13, 2021- Officials of the Pat Summitt Foundation expressed their appreciation today to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and its member institutions for their support of the Foundation's mission. They noted the SEC has organized a We Back Pat Week for the tenth consecutive year in cooperation with its 14- member institutions. The week-long initiative focuses on raising awareness of Alzheimer's disease and the Pat Summitt Foundation's role in fighting it.
During the week of January 14th-21st SEC member institutions will offer support to the Foundation during each of their 18 women's basketball home games in 14 cities through a variety of efforts including promotional public address announcements and video endorsements. The week will close with a game between longtime rivals Lady Vols and UConn in Knoxville, TN.
Foundation director of public relations Sunny Biden noted, "The SEC, its 14 member institutions, and fans across the country have played an instrumental role in the growth of the Pat Summitt Foundation and the impact it is making in Alzheimer's disease. We Back Pat Week provides an opportunity to express our appreciation and to celebrate what we are accomplishing together in honor of Pat Summitt's legacy."
