Co-Player of the Week: Riccardo Roberto went 4-0 to lead Alabama wins over No. 15 Kentucky and Vanderbilt. He posted a huge singles win against Joshua Lapadat (#123) in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) and came back from being down 40-0 at match point at No. 1 doubles vs. Cesar Bourgois and Gabriel Diallo with doubles partner Patrick Kaukovalta to force a tiebreaker and eventually win the match and secure the doubles point for Alabama on the way to upsetting No. 15 Kentucky. Against Vanderbilt he once again combined with Kaukovalta to win at No. 1 doubles in a tiebreaker, giving UA the doubles point. In singles, he downed Jeremie Casabon 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. On the season, Roberto is a perfect 4-0 in singles in Southeastern play and is 3-1 in doubles.
Florida's Andy Andrade played an important part in two road SEC wins for the Gators last weekend against LSU and No. 10 Texas A&M. Andrade's weekend was capped off by a two-set victory over No. 4 Valentin Vacherot of TAMU, but also featured a two-set victory in singles against LSU and a 6-0 doubles win with Ben Shelton against the Aggies. Those two victories moved Andrade to 8-1 in dual matches this season and 2-0 at the No. 2 position.
Freshman of the Week: Tennessee's Johannus Monday earned two more wins over ranked opponents in UT's 6-1 win over Mississippi State and its 7-0 shutout over Ole Miss. Against Mississippi State, Monday battled through two tiebreaks (7-6(4), 7-6(4)) to knock of No. 87 Florian Broska in a unique match where neither player broke the others serve. On Sunday, Monday gave the Vols a 2-0 lead with a dominant 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 62 Tim Sandkaulen. In doubles, Monday and partner Martim Prata dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision against Mississippi State's duo of Florian Broska and Gregor Ramskogler. The tandem bounced back on Sunday to clinch the doubles point in the shutout win over Ole Miss, with a 6-3 win over Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt. Monday has now racked up seven victories over ranked opponents in singles action and is now 12-3 in dual play.
Newcomer of the Week: Florida's Blaise Bicknell continues to win for the Gators as he racked up his sixth and seventh wins of his dual match season last weekend at LSU and No. 10 Texas A&M. Bicknell, who both singles matches over the weekend in two sets, is now 7-0 in dual matches this season and 16-0 overall. Bicknell defeated Noah Schachter of TAMU decisively at the No. 4 spot. Bicknell has been an all-around clutch player for the team, winning matches at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions this season.
