Alabama is Preseason Favorite for 2022 Softball Season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (January 31, 2022) - Alabama was chosen the preseason favorite for the 2022 softball season after a vote of the 13 head coaches in the annual preseason poll.
The Crimson Tide received seven first-place votes and 138 points to lead the preseason poll. Florida collected three first-place votes and 131 points to finish in second place. Arkansas earned two first-place votes and 124 points to take third place, while Tennessee garnered one first-place vote and 103 points to place fourth. Missouri rounded out the top five with 97 points.
Points for the poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 basis. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
SEC teams are slated to begin the 2022 softball season on Thursday, February 10. The 2022 SEC Softball Tournament is set for May 10-14 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
