Welcome to the 2022 SEC Baseball Tournament Blog, your online home for the big news, behind-the-scenes notes and quotes and special moments that make this annual event at the Hoover (Ala.) Met the best college baseball tournament in the nation. Check back for updates each day throughout the week.

How many home runs had Kentucky redshirt freshman Devin Burkes hit in his short college career before Thursday? One, but it was memorable. He punctuated his ninth-inning solo shot in a 9-2 April 29th loss at Florida with an emphatic bat flip. Some Florida players weren't thrilled with that display and rushed the field, but order was restored before the jawing turned to brawling.

How many home runs did Burkes hit Thursday in Kentucky's 11-6 loss to LSU in the SEC Tournament? Twice as many. He went boom boom two times with a two-run blast to left field to open the scoring in the second inning and a three-run jack to right field in the eighth.

That completed a career night for Burkes at the plate as he finished 4 for 4 with five RBIs - which was one more than his career total of runs batted in coming in. In a related stat, there were no bat flips.
