Week 9: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week

Men's Swimmer of the Week:

 Aleksas Savickas, Florida

Savickas, a freshman from Panevezys, Lithuania, swept the breaststroke events at the 2022 Toyota U.S. Open Championships. Savickas earned the gold medal in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.54 and in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.68.

Men's Freshmen of the Week:

 Josh Liendo, Florida

Liendo, a freshman from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, claimed three silver medals at the 2022 Toyota U.S. Open Championships. Liendo was runner-up in the 50 free (21.99), the 100 free (48.97) and the 100 fly (52.48).

Women's Swimmer of the Week:

 Gillian Davey, Kentucky

Davey, a senior from Urbandale, Iowa, won the 200 breaststroke at the 2022 Toyota U.S. Open Championships with her top time of 2:27.06, which qualified her for the 2024 Olympic Trials. Davey finished as the top qualifier in the prelims before winning the event in the night session.

Women's Freshman of the Week:

 Betsy Wizard, Arkansas

Wizard, a freshman from Northampton, England, placed second in the 100 fly at the 2022 English National Championships in Sheffield, England with a personal-best time of 58.62. Wizard also finished third in the 200 fly (2:10.49) and sixth in the 200 free (1:59.81).
