SEC with seven top-10 teams in preseason coaches' poll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Feb. 2, 2023)-----Seven Southeastern Conference baseball teams are ranked in the top-10 of the Preseason USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll released Thursday.
LSU is ranked No. 1, followed by Tennessee at No. 2, Texas A&M at No. 4, Florida at No. 5, Arkansas at No. 6, Ole Miss at No. 7, and Vanderbilt at No. 9.
LSU is ranked No. 1 in all six of the major preseason polls. Four other SEC squads - Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and South Carolina - are ranked in at least one preseason poll. Auburn and Alabama were the top-two teams receiving votes that were not in the preseason coaches' poll.
The 2023 college baseball season begins the weekend of Feb. 17. The SEC led all conferences with five teams in the NCAA Super Regionals and four teams in the College World Series last season, while Ole Miss won the SEC's third consecutive national title.
