LSU takes lead at SEC Women's Golf Championship
HOOVER, Ala. -The No. 3 LSU women's golf team carded a 6-over 294 and moved atop the leaderboard on the second day of the SEC Championships here Thursday at Greystone Golf and Country Club's Legacy Course.
The Tigers (586) enter the final day of stroke play with a two shot lead over No. 7 Auburn (295-589). LSU and Auburn recorded the two lowest rounds of the day.
Auburn's Megan Schofill (139) is the individual leader, three shots ahead of LSU's Latanna Stone. LSU's Aine Donegan and Florida's Marina Escobar Domingo are the other two players under par at 1-under 143. Schofill's 5-under 69 was the lowest round on Thursday.
Following Friday's final round of stroke play, the top-eight teams will advance to the match play portion of the championship.
This marks the 10th year the SEC Championship has been held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club just outside of Birmingham, Ala. The 2023 event marks the fourth straight in which the championship will be held over five days with match play on Saturday and Sunday. The opening three rounds will consist of stroke play. The championship match on Sunday will be televised live on SEC Network. The semifinals on Saturday will be available live on SECN+.
