MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (June 2, 2023)-----The 2023 Southeastern Conference Spring Meetings concluded Friday at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort. The annual gathering included meetings of the SEC's Presidents and Chancellors, Athletics Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Faculty Athletics Representatives, Head Football Coaches and Head Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches.
Following Friday's meetings, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey addressed the media and discussed several topics:
**An awards celebration was held Thursday night, honoring the successes of the past year in the SEC. Individuals honored were Auburn's Sara Pacer and Alabama's Derek Maas, Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year; Dr. Pamela Soltis, SEC Professor of the Year; and Georgia's Callie Dickinson and LSU's Jackson Martingayle, H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
**The presidents and chancellors took action on several SEC legislative proposals.
**The SEC finalized adjustments to the schedule of on-campus championships to integrate Oklahoma and Texas into that rotation This includes championships in: cross country, equestrian, softball, swimming an diving, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track and field. Of note, Oklahoma will host its first SEC championship in 2026 in women's tennis and Texas will host its first SEC championship in 2027 in swimming & diving.
